Today Show Appearance and Woman’s Day

August 15, 2013

On Monday my daughter, Lindsey, and I appeared on a Today Show segment about the cost of college. Here is the video (a short ad plays before the video).

Other guests on the panel were Natalie Merola, a student at Florida International University, and Jacques Steinberg of Say Yes to Education.

The whole thing came about very quickly and was quite an adventure. When they told us there would be a car waiting for us at the airport, we knew this wasn’t going to be your average trip.

They did our hair and makeup, steamed my jacket before the segment, and to answer some other common questions: yes, Willie really is that nice and Natalie really is that beautiful.

A few other pics from our day:

Here we are with our producer, Patricia Luchsinger, who contacted us about doing the segment and made it a wonderful experience for us by answering all our questions and keeping us totally in the loop.

And speaking of college costs, I recently had the opportunity to help contribute some college savings tips for the September issue of Woman’s Day magazine.

The tips are on page 19 as part of the “September Deals and Freebies” spread.

Now it’s back to my regularly scheduled life, which is not nearly so exciting.

  1. Oh Julie!

I have been out of the loop for awhile now, but I still enjoy reading all your posts. I just had to comment today because I am so impressed after seeing you “in person”…you are so well spoken. You did such a great job! … And your daughter is a doll!…and well spoken just like her mom! You must be so proud.

Things here have been going well. My son is getting ready to start high school on Monday! It’s a bit bitter sweet as we leave our homeschooling years behind but I am so happy for him. Maybe I will get back to blogging one of these days. :-)

    Much love to you,
    Mary

    1. Mary, it is SO nice to hear from you. Your comments always put a smile on my face. Good luck to your son in high school and I so hope you choose to blog again. Your blog was always one of my favorites.

Thanks for popping in and leaving a comment.

  2. Hi, I read your guest post over at Money Saving Mom’s. I am so impressed with your website and plan to spend a lot of time here! We have 2 in college and 1 in high school and we are always looking for ways to save and pay with cash for college, too.

    Cheryl

    1. Hi Cheryl. Thanks for your comment and welcome. With 2 in college and 1 in high school I’m sure you have lots of good ideas to share too.
